During our visit to Roam, we learned that the Roswell Jelly was meeting a short distance down the road. We caught up with Randall again (we're not sure if that's his real name and we don't know for certain what he does) and met Kevin Bachman and the entire crew (and Scott, who was previously [...]
We're on site at Roam Atlanta today. Roam is an "innovative meeting, dining, and gathering place for a new progressive workforce." Roam isn't coworking--it's a space and a set of great services that support business men/women, independents, etc.--but it's clearly trying to be supportive of the movement--the local Jelly meets here, free of charge, a [...]
Our visit to Berkeley Coworking turned into a huge conversation. It was the end of the day, the day's work almost done... So no harm, right? It's the opportunity to have these conversations that really drives home the need for coworking spaces.
Berkeley Coworking had the lowest concentration of technical types of any of the coworking [...]
The Hat Factory web site was down today, so I couldn't do the online reconnaissance I usually like to do before a visit. The meeting itself, however, went as smoothly as could be hoped for.
The Hat Factory is a live/work facility with a friendly vibe. We talked to two of the residents, Eddie Codel (Geek [...]
The last stop today was PariSoma, the San Francisco office of French-American design and innovation companies AF83 and faberNovel and soon to be coworking space. We were in the area so we took a chance, knocked on the door, and spent a few minutes talking to Greg, the only member of the faberNovel team [...]
The first stop this afternoon was Sandbox Suites. Awesome space, design features breath in meeting spaces, private desks, open spaces, and a kitchen-ish space just beyond the entrance. Tastefully displayed (and for sale) pieces of art line the walls, and the promise of the creativity of coworking clearly lives here. Roman Gelfer has [...]
As near to ground zero as you can get in the coworking world...
It's Monday morning and it's quiet, but we're here. The best part about writing about coworking is that we are working (coworking?) as we write about coworking.
I lived in San Francisco seven years ago. There was nothing like this then. [...]
Jelly is casual coworking. But in the space between episodes of work, discussions thrive.
Security Web-sites and passwords. Wifi security. Identify theft. The discussion started innocently enough. What password should you use when you create an account on your Nth social networking site? I'm freaking out now.
Communication What [...]
The February 1st Atlanta Jelly is underway and we're here—Urban Grind, west mid-town Atlanta. The line-up so far, Randall, Deanna, Cameron, Katie, Brian and J. A mix of jobs, roles, and reasons for being here. Deanna's the community manager for Yelp Atlanta. Apparently we're all signing up for Yelp accounts. [...]
I've always wanted tentacles. To feel things. To have more experience. Tentacles made of Jelly. Texas-size tentacles made of Jelly.
Connected with other monstrosities with tentacles made of Jelly.
Ball it up and roll it down the hill. What do you get?
Jelly Coworking...
Vulnerable, connected. Creative. Productive. Almost balanced. Cynical. [...]
