A brief report from the other side of our business card:  Aquifer Design

Earlier today I was reading through the Innovation Channel at BusinessWeek.com, and I came across 2 different articles about open-innovation (Building Expertise Through Collective Innovation, and A Ripe Time for Open Innovation).  Both articles address what we call co-innovation: That is, getting people from different design backgrounds from different firms to spend time together to cross-pollinate ideas and possibilities.

Co-Innovation

In many ways this is what is already underway in coworking spaces and communities across the country.  For example, Round3Media is a cross pollination that sprang out of Indy Hall in Philly, and this is but one example.  Design firm Johnny Nines  is also part of the creative churn at Indy Hall, and he (Johnny Bilotta Jr.) is currently working with us here at NotanMBA to evolve our site to a higher level.  Thanks Johnny!!!

The idea is simple but powerful:

Bring creative and independent minded people together, and see what happens!

This is the idea behind the new Innovation Jams (i.e. workshops) that we are experimenting with at Aquifer Design.  We aim to bring together independent creatives, designers, and developers with our corporate clients who are eager to up their creative output and innovation hit rate.

All of these things are already happening in various places, we just need a big ass roll of duct tape to tie them all together-
